Design & Layout Optimization
From Concept to Bankable PV Design
Before a photovoltaic project can proceed to permitting or financing, a technically robust preliminary design is essential. Without a well-optimized layout, realistic yield projections and a structured cost estimate, developers risk pursuing projects that are technically constrained or economically unviable.
A well-prepared design and layout optimization ensures that land use, system configuration and technical performance are aligned from the earliest project stages.
Voltares develops preliminary PV system designs that combine spatial analysis, technical configuration and performance modelling. Our approach evaluates site conditions, system components and regulatory constraints to create optimized layouts that maximize energy production while ensuring technical feasibility and realistic development costs.
This structured design process supports permitting preparation, investment evaluation and the development of bankable project concepts.
Tools
Development of preliminary photovoltaic plant layouts and detailed CAD plans, considering terrain conditions, site constraints and infrastructure requirements.
Assessment of applicable planning and regulatory frameworks to ensure that project layouts comply with local land-use and permitting requirements.
Preliminary evaluation and selection of key system components, including module technology, inverter configuration and mounting structures.
Preparation of preliminary cost estimates based on system configuration, site conditions and infrastructure requirements.
Energy production modelling using PVsyst, incorporating irradiation data, system configuration and relevant performance losses.
